Audubon Society Bird Walk plus APA Volunteer Day - Shoreline Cleanup

  • Astoria Park Astoria Park South NY, 11102 United States (map)

On Saturday, September 27th, we are thrilled to once again be collaborating with staff from the New York branch of the Audubon Society. (https://www.audubon.org/new-york) The Audubon team will be leading a bird walk through Astoria Park for all those interested in joining! This event is free and open to the public, and good for all ages. Expect the walk to last about an hour.

Over 30 Astoria bird walkers joined the last tour in early September so we are bringing it back once more by popular demand! Our friends from Audubon will be joining us once again at the meeting location for the day at 10am behind the Astoria Park Field House (adjacent to the tennis courts). Volunteers and attendees are welcome to choose to start their morning with the bird walk, and then jump in and join APA volunteering activities afterwards around 11am…. or just do the bird walk alone…. or just volunteer with us cleaning up the park if birding isn’t your thing. Any choice is welcome!

For the volunteer day, we will be cleaning and beautifying the park by focusing on the shoreline. Please join us and let’s get as much off of the banks of the East River as we can!

Consider wearing long pants (recommended) and closed toed shoes (required) for the shoreline activity. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old to use the ladder for climbing down to the shore.

Tools and gloves will be provided.

Please go to our Facebook page for any weather-related updates.
