This Saturday, July 12th, we are thrilled to be collaborating with staff from the New York branch of the Audubon Society. (https://www.audubon.org/new-york) The Audubon team will be leading a bird walk through Astoria Park for all those interested in joining! This event is free and open to the public, and good for all ages. Expect the walk to last about an hour.
Our friends from Audubon will be joining us at the meeting location for the day at 10am behind the Astoria Park Field House (adjacent to the tennis courts). Volunteers and attendees are welcome to choose to start their morning with the bird walk, and then jump in and join APA volunteering activities afterwards around 11am…. or just do the bird walk alone…. or just volunteer with us cleaning up the park if birding isn’t your thing. Any choice is welcome!
For the volunteer activities, we will aim for some garden maintenance, litter pickup, and other beautification TBD.
Volunteers should plan to meet shortly before 10am at the Astoria Park Track Field House adjacent to the tennis courts.
Gloves and equipment will be provided.
Stay tuned on our social media for any weather related changes.
