Astoria Park Alliance will present a box office smash hit To Be Revealed on Social Media, as our third annual Spring movie screening in Astoria Park.
Pre-show live entertainment will potentially feature the musical stylings of FogoAzul NYC, an all-female Brazilian drumline. FogoAzul will bring their amazing energy to a performance that will take moviegoers right up to showtime! (http://www.fogoazulnyc.com/)
A limited amount of FREE popcorn will be distributed.
"APA Presents Movies Under the Stars" was born out of a desire to schedule a screening for the late spring, when the weather's comfortable and the event calendar's less occupied. A weekend evening was specifically targeted along with a title that would be appealing to an adult audience.
For years, we have admired and helped promote the July - August Monday night movie series that Central Astoria LDC has sponsored and hosted in Astoria Park. The Alliance hopes to replicate the old-time drive-in-without-the-drive neighborhood feel that brings a magical sensation to the park.
The Astoria Park Alliance is able to offer free public programming to the community thanks to generous donations made through PayPal on our website and at our fundraisers.
The selected movie will be screened on the great lawn of Astoria Park overlooking the sunset across the East River and is scheduled to begin at sundown, which is generally around 8:15 pm. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring their own blankets and picnics for the movie night that's turned into an annual tradition for the Astoria Park Alliance.
Attendees are encouraged to RSVP on Facebook and Eventbrite (once set up).
