Astoria Park Alliance is excited to host this new event coming to Shore Blvd along the East River on Father’s Day. Shore Blvd aka "The Strip" will be closed to traffic allowing the community to check out dozens of classic cars from around the region. Park-goers of all ages are encouraged to meet the car owners and learn about their vehicles.
Live music, craft activities, food and gift vendors will also stretch along "The Strip," making for a unique and exciting Astoria experience. Classic car owners will have their vehicles professionally judged in a variety of categories, with trophy presentations on stage to conclude the event.
Astoria Park, with its gorgeous views of Manhattan, has a long history of being a magnet for car and motorcycle enthusiasts. Walk the strip on any given day and you are likely to run into proud vehicle owners parked along the riverside showing off their rides and enjoying the view. The Father’s Day Classic Car Show aims to embrace the past, while looking to the future.
“Shore Boulevard lends itself to this type of event. It’s a natural destination for Astorians and car lovers alike,” says APA Board Member Miriam Fodera. The Father’s Day Classic Car Show was conceived by Fodera, and she is also one of the lead event organizers. “I love the look on people’s faces when they see a vintage car! It’s a moment to stop and admire— even if you’re not a car lover.”
Award winning singer-songwriter D.B. Rielly will be featured on the main stage, performing two sets of their wide-ranging collection of American roots music, including zydeco, blues, and country.
Featured vendors that include The Breakfast Shack, Bench Flour Bakers, Astor Apiaries and HellGate Farm will offer refreshments as well as last minute Father’s Day gifts.
